Arts and Content Creation
"It is the Job of an Artist to create an archive of the time period they occupy. We create history man"
-Chris Wright from Violet Recordings As we work on shifting cultural paradigms one of the most important aspects of this is keeping a record of what is happening during this tumultuous time in history. We can look back on periods of unrest, the 60's come to mind, and see that periods of turmoil also produce great art. I have been a professional musician and artist for over 24 years an have been very privileged and honored to work with some of top artists in this area. |
As we move forward together it is important to establish a narrative that is inclusive, willing to own past systemic inequalities, and is open to change and growth. This, in my mind, is the job of artists and so supporting the arts is foremost in my mind. My areas of focus here include: highlighting and bringing awareness to BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) artists and their viewpoints, and working to foster creative teams and spaces that challenge the antiquated beliefs, norms, and mores in our society.
Highlighting BIPOC Artists and Their Narratives
In the current sociopolitical climate of understanding and dismantling systems of oppression it is very important that the voices of marginalized communities are given a stronger platform. By supporting art of BIPOC people we create amplification of their narratives that allow for more complex dialogue around systems of oppression and how they impact us all.
Fostering Creative Teams
Art is typically created and maintained by tight knit groups of content creators. Finding like minded artists and ensuring that they meet and interact on key social issues is a great way to create the aforementioned archive of historical times.
